Intelligent Pick-to-Light System (PTL for short) is a paperless intelligent picking assistance system applied in warehousing, logistics and production & distribution. It guides operators to complete order picking/sorting quickly and accurately through indicator lights and digital displays, greatly improving operational efficiency and accuracy.
Working Principle
The system integrates with Warehouse Management System (WMS), ERP and other platforms. It automatically activates the indicator lights at target storage locations according to order tasks and displays the required picking quantity on electronic labels.
Operators pick goods following the light instructions and press the confirmation button upon completion. The lights then turn off, and the system synchronizes inventory updates and task progress, realizing “picking by light, no need to search for goods”.
Main Components
Electronic shelf labels (with indicator lights, display screens and confirmation buttons)
Zone controllers
System management software
Data interfaces with WMS/ERP/MES
Core Features
High picking speed: Reduces time spent on locating storage positions and significantly improves efficiency.
High accuracy: Minimizes human errors and virtually eliminates mis-picking and missed picking.
Easy to operate: No need to memorize storage locations, enabling new staff to get started quickly.
Paperless operation: Full-process automatic data recording for easy traceability and statistics.
Application Scenarios
Widely used in scenarios with multiple SKUs and high-frequency split-case picking, such as e-commerce warehouses, pharmaceutical distribution, retail delivery, component line-side warehouses and third-party logistics (3PL).
